Our History

Scanlan Construction Ltd was established by our Construction Director, Darragh Spencer. Darragh has cultivated meaningful relationships with Clients, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Subcontractors, Tradespeople, and Suppliers. His vision for Scanlan Construction Ltd revolves around dependable and sustainable building contracting, creating a collaborative and trustworthy environment that benefits everyone involved.

Darragh graduated with a degree in Construction Engineering Management from Northumbria University. He possesses extensive knowledge in managing high-value projects exceeding £6 million. His friendly and accommodating approach ensures positive outcomes for all stakeholders, making him a valuable asset to any project.

Michael Scanlan, born in 1920, is Darragh's late grandfather. Throughout his life, he experienced significant social, economic, and industrial transformations while working as a foreman for contractors in the UK and overseas. His colleagues held him in high regard, and he fostered a strong work ethic among those around him, which consistently led to successful outcomes. The values and principles he upheld have been passed down through generations, influencing Darragh and shaping his professional approach today.

Redcar Steel Works (1973)

Constructing Stacker Tracks that received goods from ships and moved to various locations around the complex. Employer, P J Hopkins.

Scunthorpe Steel Works (1948)

Laying railway tracks with his brother Danny in post war Britain. Employer, Thomas Ward.
